KDS -Ayurveda Esthetic Spa Program Diploma

The Ayurvedic approach to beauty and wellness combines ancient science and modern skincare. Ayurveda focuses on preventing and healing imbalances within the body, including imbalances in the skin. Ayurveda's philosophies and practices are incorporated into our spa program, including panchakarma therapies.

“Ayurveda” comes from the sanskrit words ”ayus” which is the meaning of life and ”veda” the meaning of knowledge or science. It is believed that this balance is achievable through natural methods such as herbal remedies, diet and lifestyle practices. Ayurveda has delineated three categories of fundamental regulatory principles of the body, mind, and behaviour. These three categories, called doshas, are named Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, that are present in the body and command various bodily functions. When these doshas are imbalanced it is believed to be the cause of disease, Ayurveda treatment helps to ensure that the doshas are balanced. Herbal remedies such as decotions, powders and pills are used by Ayurvedic practitoners to promote health and wellness. Ayurveda is a natural lifestyle where yoga, meditation and breath work is used – a long with a certain diet of eating light foods, grown on earth without any chemicals. The Ayurvedic diet is a meal plan based on the principles of Ayurvedic medicine, The diet involves eating or restricting certain foods based on your dosha, or body type, which is claimed to boost weight loss and support mindfulness. Yoga and meditation is a huge part of the Ayurveda practice as well, it is an important tool to maintain physical and mental well being.

Licensed Estheticians and Massage Therapists are able to participate in the Ayurveda Body Therapy portion of this program to gain advanced body works skills.
